We heard you wanted to adopt a rat!

Rats make wonderful pets for both adults and children, provided they are properly educated on proper handling and care. While our little rodent friends don't always have the longest of lives and though they age incredibly fast, they are some of the most intelligent pets you can own domestically! They are known to bond with their human companions and are even trainable (much like dogs)! They can also be litter box trained and provided habitats are kept up, they are actually pretty clean animals (despite media portraying them to be very dirty and nasty.) Unfortunately, they don't have the longest life spans, and so routine and appropriate veterinary care is always recommended.

DID YOU KNOW?

DOMESTICALLY BRED RATS DO NOT CARRY AND SPREAD DISEASES TO PEOPLE IF PRECAUTIONS ARE TAKEN. EVEN SO, ALWAYS  KEEP CAGES AND HANDS CLEAN TO PREVENT ANY UNWANTED GERMS FROM EITHER SPREADING OR MANIFESTING. UNCLEAN HABITATS CAN CAUSE ILLNESS AND RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS IN RATS.
